Running Gatling2 project in Eclipse Indigo IDE

Hi!

I have been trying to run Gatling as a project from Eclipse but could not get it working. Any help is appreciated!
On the other note - is there an alternative to using maven gatling project such as gatling - sbt instead? I would like to avoid dealing with maven if I can.

Here is what I am working with:
Gatling 2Eclipse Indigo
Scala 2.10
mac OS X 10.8.3

I follow instructions here and i get to the point of running “mvn build clean” and it fails to build the second part:

The 2.0.0-SNAPSHOT packages are not deployed publicly, you should first build locally this: https://github.com/excilys/gatling

Yes, they are: you can add this repository to your build: http://repository-gatling.forge.cloudbees.com/snapshot/
Note that we use a limited OSS Couldbees account, so we frequently run out of build minutes, so the SNAPSHOTs might not be up-to-date.

However, as Nicolas explained, you have to install the main gatling project before installing gatling-highcharts.

If you don’t want to use with maven, there are alternatives: https://github.com/excilys/gatling/wiki/Third-parties
Note that those are 3rd parties that we don’t maintain ourselves (our own SBT plugin is a WIP).

I have downloaded gatling-master(https://github.com/excilys/gatling) and have imported it as maven project in Eclipse
when I run mvn clean install trying to build gatling-master I get errors:

You can run maven either from a local installation, or use the one shipped with m2e.

If you run from CLI, you have a download an up-to-date version and add its bin directory to your path (beware that you might have an existing M2_HOME env variable that might clash).
Check which version you’re using with mvn -version.

If you run from m2e, check which you’re using with maven>installations. You can use the shipped one, or configure an external one. Launch maven: right click on a maven project, and run as.

I am sorry I am still a bit confused. Is it possible that the page with IDE setup instructions has not been updated for the Gatling 2?

I am currently using Gatling 2 and my script development is outside Eclipse. Everything I need is in this folder: gatling-charts-highcharts-2.0.0-M3a
I want to bring my script development inside eclipse for obvious reasons.

My understanding was that you were saying earlier I need to download and import as maven project to Eclipse both

Having done that I got about 15 maven projects in Eclipse.

I have run from Eclipse Run As - > “maven clean” for each of these projects which came back with “BUILD SUCCESSFUL”
According to the instructions on this page I know should see a simple structure as shown in step 6 chapter “Getting Gatling to run in Eclipse”.
In which of these projects should I see that? I had a quick scan through and did not find it.

My maven version outside of eclipse is 3.0.3 and m2e plugin version is 3.0.4, which should be ok, so I am trying to build maven projects using Eclipse now. I can upgrade maven on my mac and compile projects that way if it is easier - the instructions seem to be for build from Eclipse. Please could you advise?

You don’t necessarily need gatling and gatling-highcharts modules in your workspace, you just need them to be installed in your local maven repo (mvn clean install).
Then, a project built with Gatling’s maven archetype will be able to reference their binaries.

Note that if you do so, the archetype you need won’t be in a remote repository, but in your local one (and it will be a snapshot), so make sure to select the right options.
